Anderson’s Stretch Belts

Anderson’s Stretch Belts

Like every young Sartorialist, I know that I’m supposed to wear my pants at my waist and not on my hips like jeans. However, every leather belt I’ve bought never stays in place at my waist – it always slips down my hips, which totally changes the silhouette of the pants that I so carefully articulated to my tailor. For years, I’ve found myself yanking my pants up to the right spot every time I stand up.

I seriously considered suspenders, but I’m just not a suspenders guy. I love that suspenders work and I do wear them with my three-piece suits because I like how the vest hides them.

The day my life changed was at French Trotter in Paris where I found these belts. I had seen elastic belts before, but they’ve always been too thick and chunky. This particular version of Anderson’s are much thinner and, like a good pair of suspenders, they just work. They comfortably keep my pants in the right spot, no matter how much I’ve eaten or how much weight I’ve lost. These belts live with you…. and they accept you.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find this exact model of Anderson’s, not even at French Trotter. I’m making a public plea to any and all menswear retailers: Do us all a favor and figure out a way to get these belts back in stores. Sartorialists around the world will thank you.
